Honey Bun Cake
A delicious cake that is reminiscent of one of your favorite packaged snacks.
Servings: 12 people
- 1/2 cup + 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 1/4 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 tbsp whole milk
- 2 tbsp honey
Preheat the oven to 350º and grease a 13 x 9 in. baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Add in the milk, vanilla, eggs and sour cream. Mix until well combined. Add in the flour, baking powder and salt and mix just until combined.
In a small separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together.
Spread half othe cake batter into the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top and spread it slightly to ensure even coverage. Pour the rest of the cake batter on top and spread it as needed. Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until done.
When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes. In a small bowl, combine the confectioners sugar, milk and honey well. Poke approximately 20 holes in the cake, and pour the glaze on top. Spread the glaze as needed to ensure the cake is covered. Allow to cool for at least 20 more minutes before serving.
